2Day FM have announced that its breakfast show, hosted by Grant Denyer, Ed Kavalee and Ash London, has been cancelled, with its final episode set to be broadcast this Friday.
In its stead, the network will launch a new “Music for Breakfast” program from next Monday which will provide “an exciting and upbeat breakfast alternative for Sydneysiders on their morning commute where they can expect us to play just music for breakfast,” according to head of Hit Network Gemma Fordham.
The network head thanked the trio for their work over the past 18 months. “They are absolute professionals, have been a true delight to work with and have contributed to a culture of fun, community and inclusiveness we are proud of at 2Day.”
As the Sydney Morning Herald points out, the show fell to its lowest ratings in nearly two years last month, with just 3.1% of the total breakfast audience.
In a statement released today, the network confirmed that all three hosts would remain involved with the network. London will continue to host her nightly Ash London Live program, Kavalee will fill in for Kate Langbroek with Dave Hughes, and Denyer will be “making appearances around the network.”
