5SOS’ Luke Hemmings Announces Debut Solo Australian Tour

Luke Hemmings has announced his first-ever headlining shows in Australia as a solo artist, away from his 5 Seconds Of Summer bandmates. The singer-songwriter has also announced his debut solo EP boy, which is set for release next month on Friday April 26th via Arista Records and follows on from his debut solo album When Facing the Things We Turn Away From in 2021.

The Australian tour dates, which are set to take place in June, are a part of Hemmings’ Nostalgia for a Time That Never Existed world tour. It will take him through Europe and the UK in May before a run of dates in North America later that month. Last June saw Hemmings launch his solo career as a live performer in earnest with two shows at the The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. He performed no 5SOS songs during the two shows, instead lifting exclusively from When Facing the Things – with the sole exception of covering The Cure‘s ‘Friday I’m In Love’.

Luke Hemmings – ‘Shakes’

Hemmings released ‘Shakes’, the lead single from the boy EP, last week (March 6). In a press statement, he noted that the song “was written on a dreary NYC evening in-between long periods of being on the road”. “This made it come naturally to write from a melancholy place, and [a] feeling of yearning to be back home,” he said. “There is a longing for love and self-acceptance in the lyrics, and I hope it to be a song and feeling that anyone listening can find themselves in and attach their own story.”

Two separate pre-sales will run this week for the tour: One for Vodafone customers, and one through the tour promoter Live Nation. The former can be accessed here tomorrow (March 13) from 12pm local time, while the latter can be accessed here from Friday March 15th at 1pm local time. A general sale will follow on Monday March 18th from midday local time. All tour dates and information can be found below.
