Ali Campbell’s UB40 Announce 2017 Australian Tour

Less than a week after UB40 announced a new Australian tour, the other current touring version of the same band has gone and done the exact same thing.

Original frontman Ali Campbell’s UB40 has locked in four tour dates in Perth, Sydney (AA), Melbourne and Queensland’s Bribie Island (AA) for January of 2017.

This version of the veteran reggae-pop outfit, which also features founding members Astro and Mickey Virtue, will be returning to our shores following a hit performance at Byron Bay Bluesfest earlier this year. And they’ll be arriving less than two months after the other version of the band wraps up their The Hits & More Aussie tour, meaning diehard fans can catch both shows in a relatively short space of time and compare/contrast who played the best version of Red Red Wine.

Ali Campbell started touring his rival version of UB40 in 2013, after claiming he was sick of sitting back and watching his brother Duncan — current lead singer of the original band — “murdering my songs”. The two bands have been locked in a bitter legal dispute over naming rights ever since.
