A squad of Aussie dance legends have come together for one very special show, with Alison Wonderland, What So Not, Hayden James and Golden Features DJing back-to-back at the 300-capacity Candys Apartment in Sydney last night, as part of a fundraiser for the Keep Sydney Open movement’s next rally.
The show, which was billed as a Candys reunion show following the venue’s recent closure, saw the awesome foursome drop some huge tracks in a packed room, including perennial bangers by the likes of Justice, Blur, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more.
Since the show, its headliners have taken to socials to reminisce, with Alison Wonderland saying, “Can’t get more fucking sweaty. It’s all about community #KeepSydneyOpen.
“THE SYDNEY MUSIC SCENE IS IMPORTANT WE ARE A COMMUNITY. Last night should be enough to realise,” she says.
“Last night we reopened Sydney,” added What So Not. Catch a bunch of videos from the show, below.
Candys Apartment was shut down for 72 hours in December, after a police raid allegedly found evidence of drug supply at the venue. At the time, Candys Apartment owner Charlie Mancuso told 7 News the police raid was “horrendous”, and that it looked like a “warzone”. He also said New South Wales Premier Mike Baird “has gotta smarten up and get a reality check”, in reference to Sydney’s controversial lockout laws.
