ALT-J (∆) Announce Australian Supports & Launch Real-Time Gig Download App

As the third Australian tour from chart dominators and current indie sweethearts ALT-J (∆) edges closer, the band have announced Snakadaktal and City Calm Down supports for their shows, and have also graced us with a state-of-the-art addition to their live performance – a smartphone app that lets you stream and download their shows in real time.

Though it’s currently only available on Android, the live streaming app gives fans the opportunity to tune in if they’ve missed out on tickets, and gives fans who were there on the night the option of taking home some of the memories. Moments after the band walks off stage, each track will be available for purchase via the app, letting you piece together your own bootleg live album.

This wouldn’t be possible with out soundhalo, a smartphone app platform attempting to further breakdown the barriers between music lovers and music. ALT-J (∆)’s version of the app is currently in beta form but it seems as though they’re giving it a bit of a plug for shows in the UK, so hopefully, if they decide to bring the technology to Australia, all the bugs will be gone by July.

Now to news of the supports for the band’s short stretch of Down Under dates – those which land suspiciously close to those of Splendour In The Grass. City Calm Down will be warming up the crowd for these totally-aren’t-Splendour-sideshows, with Splendour attendees Snakadaktal in the main support slot.
