Along with being a musician, producer, label owner, Met Gala icon, Anderson .Paak is now stepping into film…set to make his directorial debut.
This week it’s been announced at .Paak is working with media company Stampede Ventures on a new comedy drama film titled K-POPS!
Anderson .Paak is also starring in the film as a washed-up musician who travels to Korea to write music for K-pop groups. As the storyline goes, .Paak’s character learns that he has a long-lost son who is fronting one of the popular emerging acts.
For .Paak, the project is a personal one: not only does the production also star his real-life son Soul Rasheed, but the narrative reflects the multi-hyphenate’s own journey growing up with Korean heritage.
“My mom is from Korea but she was adopted so I never knew anything about my Korean heritage until I met my wife.” .Paak has said in a statement.
“This movie is a reflection on my experience learning about this part of myself alongside my wife and son – and spending even more time with them. I knew this would be something I should write and direct, and Stampede Ventures took a chance and trusted that I could pull this off. I’m excited to bring it to the big screen.”
