Anvil Ask Fans To Demand A Spot On The Soundwave 2014 Lineup

Canadian metal figures and Soundwave alumni Anvil aren’t leaving anything to chance when it comes to being part of Soundwave 2014 – the second lineup announcement is on the horizon and the band wants their fans to help them snag a place on it.

Anvil took to Facebook recently to deliver instructions to fans on a crude yet effective image (below). It’s a straightforward process – basically the band wants fans to tweet at promoter AJ Maddah demanding he book them for the festival.

Maddah is a mysterious dude, with no clear modus operandi for who he books, so it’s crazy but this might just work. He’s clearly not taking the bait at the moment though – when one fan tweeted that Anvil “better be at Soundwave 2014”, Maddah replied with a dismissive “or what?” Fair enough.

Since being rescued from rock bottom after 2008 documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil, the band has received the international attention they deserve. With massive names like Metallica crediting the band as influences, they performed alongside Scorpion, Whitesnake and Bon Jovi in their heyday.

Now, 30 years later, they’ve supported AC/DC, released two more albums and made the cut for Soundwave 2010 – so they’re obviously on Maddah’s radar.

The second Soundwave lineup announcement is expected to arrive some time in October and could most possibly include Scar The Martyr, maybe a place for and potentially Good Charlotte and definitely a spot for Melbourne band King Parrot. All will be revealed soon.
