A new Atreyu era has begun!
The Orange County metalcore crew have returned with a double-dose of their first new music since 2015’s Long Live LP.
They’ve unleashed two brand spanker tracks — an urgent rocker dubbed ‘In Our Wake’ (which comes packing a music video described by bassist Porter McKnight as “unlike anything we’ve done before…We wanted to leave the viewer with a feeling of ‘What the fuck did I just watch!?’”) and a heavier additional cut dubbed ‘Anger Left Behind’.
The band have also announced the imminent arrival of their seventh studio album (their second since reuniting from hiatus in 2014) also dubbed In Our Wake, which is set to make landfall on Friday, 12th October.
In a press statement, singer Alex Varkatzas reveals that the death of two rock heroes last year had a big impact on the writing sessions for the new LP.
“We looked up to Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington, and their deaths were fresh during the writing process,” he explains. “It made us think of what we’ll leave in our wake. We have a choice to change the lives of others for the better.”
McKnight adds: “The album title In Our Wake comes from the idea that every day we humans have two roads we can go down. Do you choose to inspire, uplift, and enhance each others lives? Or do you prefer to belittle, shit talk, and tear down each other down? With each choice made you leave a ripple that reflects across your community, then onto your city, to your nation, and eventually all across the globe. Who do you leave in your wake?”
