Aussie institution Augie March have announced they’ll be taking to the road this August to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their ‘On The Quiet’ tour back in 2009.
A decade ago, the band pared back and played a handful of largely acoustic shows up the east coast, bringing a loose and relaxed approach to their catalogue. Now, the band are bringing that tour format back, taking the opportunity to reflect and revisit songs from their 23-year career, from crowd-pleasers to deep cuts.
“The On The Quiet format allows us to interpret the songs in their most direct and potent form… minimal instrumentation and 4 voices,” says Augie March drummer Dave Williams about the tour.
“It’s like the audience is sitting in on a stripped back rehearsal in our studio space… intimate and homespun,” he adds. “Performing this show to audiences around Australia back in 2009 was a fun and inspiring experience for us. It promises to be an equally exciting prospect in 2019.”
The band will be Melbourne’s Paddy Mann, AKA Grand Salvo. The chamber-pop artist released Sea Glass, his first album in six years back in 2018, going on to receive a 2018 Australian Music Prize nomination.
