Australia Is Getting A Brand New Winter Music Festival, ‘Snowtunes’

A frosty new music festival is gearing up to hit the NSW slopes this winter. The inaugural Snowtunes music festival will feature performances by local favourites Hermitude, Tkay Miadza and Allday, to name a few.

The new one-day festival will take place on Saturday 15th August, and promises to be “Australia’s first ever unique European-style outdoor music festival experience in the heart of the Snowy Mountains”.

As well as snagging three big-name acts, the musical blizzard will also feature Aussie producers Slumberjack, Kronic, Losty and Paces, and more.

According to a statement on the official Snowtunes website, the newest player in Australia’s festival game will boast an entirely homegrown lineup, “with international guest appearances on a mind-blowing European designed set”.

Snowtunes further promises an “eclectic line-up of artists and DJs, a variety of bars, carnival rides, and additional attractions” against the open-air scenery of Lake Jindabyne, which is nestled between the famous ski slopes of Perisher and Thredbo.

On top of its unique location, another thing that sets Snowtunes apart is its start-time. Festivities are scheduled to kick off fairly late in the day – 5pm to be exact. As triple j reports, this is designed to give punters the chance to spend all day shredding the slopes, before capping things off with 7 hours worth of live music.

Tickets are on sale now, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to the World Youth International charity.
