AC/DC may have just launched a brand new era overnight, taking to the stage for the very first time fronted by Axl Rose.
The Guns N’ Roses leader put his hand up for vocal duties after Acca Dacca mainstay Brian Johnson was sidelined with hearing issues. But as it stands, nobody really knows what the future holds for Australia’s greatest rock export after their rescheduled Rock Or Bust world tour wraps.
Axl is only supposed to stay on as frontman until the end of the band’s European and US dates, but now, it seems, there’s a chance that Axl/DC could become a more permanent monster.
Speaking in a new interview, the veteran wailer confessed that he’d be keen to continue on as Brian Johnson’s full-time replacement.
“I think after that, it’s about what [AC/DC] wanna do,” Rose told BBC 6 Music. “I’m in if they want me in, and we’ll sort it out.”
“But right now that’s getting ahead of ourselves with everything else that’s on the table.”
While many fans still view the Axl/Acca Dacca matchup as a desperate act and reckon it’s time for the rock fossils to hang up their guitars for good, critics have been heaping praise upon their debut show in Portugal, calling it a “tour de force”.
