Azealia Banks Announces Release Date For Debut Album Via Twitter

Outspoken rapper-singer Azealia Banks has taken to Twitter to unveil the release date of her much-anticipated debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste. It comes after months of collaboration talk, which has included names as famous and diverse as Pharrell and Disclosure.

Banks tweeted yesterday to reveal the month of release along with a tongue-in-cheek reference to the US’ plans to attack Syria, which some warn will trigger World War III, saying “World War’s 3-10 are INEVITABLE… But can’t we just wait until AFTER I drop my album in January?” The release date of January 2014 will mean that Broke With Expensive Taste will be coming out almost a year and a half later than originally anticipated.

Back in July, Banks unveiled her collaboration with Pharrell Williams, titled ATM Jam, after debuting the track during her Glastonbury performance the previous weekend. The rapper dropped the first single from the album, Yung Rapunxel, along with an arresting music video back in April.

In June, Banks claimed that she had an “amazing” studio session with UK EDM duo Disclosure, which the pair then shot down themselves to reveal that the three artists simply dined on sushi together.
