Barack Obama Adds Charli XCX’s ‘Brat’ Bop ‘365’ to His Summer Playlist

Former US President Barack Obama has added Charli XCX’s energetic track ‘365’ to his annual Summer Playlist, joining the ranks of fans embracing the Brat Girl Summer trend. Following in the footsteps of 2024 presidential candidate Kamala Harris, Obama has showcased his eclectic music taste with this year’s playlist.

The playlist, available on Spotify, features a diverse mix of tracks, including Billie Eilish’s ‘CHIHRO’, Tems’ ‘Love Me Jeje’, and Shaboozey’s ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’. Classic hits like The Rolling Stones’ ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’, Bob Dylan’s ‘Silvio’, and Sting’s ‘If You Love Somebody Set Them Free’ are also part of the selection.

Barack Obama Shares 2024 Summer Playlist

Obama, 63, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his playlist, writing, “With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately — and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!”

Charli XCX, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, has been a key figure in the Brat movement, which Harris has also embraced. After President Joe Biden announced his endorsement for Harris as the Democratic nominee, Charli declared on X, “Kamala IS brat.”

Kamala’s campaign quickly responded by updating its banner on X to mimic Charli’s Brat style, featuring “kamala hq” in lowercase black lettering on a lime green background. Charli has defined Brat as embodying a carefree, sometimes messy attitude, with a flair for partying and being bluntly honest—a vibe that resonates with many, including the Vice President.

With Obama’s latest playlist addition, Brat Girl Summer continues to make waves, blending pop culture and politics in a uniquely modern way.
