Singer-songwriter Beabadoobee recently shared insights into her new album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, during an appearance on The Evening Show with Dan O’Connell on Radio X. The artist revealed how her experiences touring with Taylor Swift and working with legendary producer Rick Rubin significantly influenced her latest work.
Touring with Taylor Swift during the Eras Tour was a transformative experience for Beabadoobee. “It was very overwhelming,” she said of the tour. “It was really fun. We were taken care of really well.” Watching Swift perform each night inspired Beabadoobee’s songwriting for her third studio album. She admired Swift’s use of “country hooks” and incorporated similar elements into one of her tracks. “I saw her live every night. I loved her little country hooks, so I tried putting that in one of the songs on the album,” she explained.

The tour also taught Beabadoobee a valuable lesson about performing. “If you mess up in front of that many people, it really doesn’t matter. Because you still wake up the next day and feel fine,” she said, highlighting the importance of embracing mistakes on stage. “Literally, I messed up so many times on stage, and like the equivalent of messing up in front of 50,000 people, it’s like messing up in front of 5,000. It’s like no difference at all.”
In addition to Swift’s influence, Beabadoobee’s collaboration with Rick Rubin in Malibu was a defining moment in her creative process. Describing Rubin as both a “spiritual guide” and a “therapist,” Beabadoobee credited him with helping her gain the confidence needed to create This Is How Tomorrow Moves. “He is so awesome, very spiritual. He is, like, such a vibe, and he helped this album a lot. He helped my brain a lot,” she said.
Rubin’s unique approach to production involved encouraging Beabadoobee to strip back her songs to their acoustic roots. “He wanted me to play not my demos that we made in London, but how I wrote the songs in my bedroom, so acoustically,” she explained. “Hearing my songs stripped back like that really gave me the confidence and the way I wrote my music.”
Beabadoobee’s new album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, is set to release on Friday, showcasing a blend of influences and a fresh sound that highlights her evolving artistry and newfound confidence in her songwriting abilities.
