Ben Folds is coming back to toewn! The mercurial rocker is travelling to Australia in August, with 8 gigs across 6 cities nationwide on the cards.
Bringing New York’s neo-classical ensemble yMusic (“the future of classical music” according American critic Fred Childs) with him, Folds will play in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra.
Folds is coming off the back of his latest album So There, a record on which he collaborated with yMusic and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and which has been described as “chamber pop”, or in other words, a blend of pop and classical music.
The master pop pianist is keen as a bean to make the trip, saying that: “For me, returning to Australia is like coming home, where I have deep roots and feel such a strong connection to audiences.” We feel ya too, Foldsy.
