While Triple J fans mourn the loss of Ben Harvey & Liam Stapleton on the station’s Breakfast show, the duo have been confirmed that they’re taking on another Breakfast show on Nova 91.9 Adelaide – aka their home town.
“Working at Nova has been something we’ve wanted to do ever since we started in radio,” said Harvey in a statement via Radio Today.
“We can’t wait to start the next phase of our careers back home in God’s Country.”
They’re taking over the roles of Dylan Lewis and Hayley Pearson, with this year marking Lewis’ eighth year on the show.
Ben & Liam’s last show on Triple J will be next Friday, 1st November. Lucy Smith will then be taking over until 2020, when Sally & Erica will step in as permanent weekday breakfast hosts.
The move is a coming home of sorts, the duo having started their radio careers on Adelaide community radio station Fresh 92.7.
“We’re really looking forward to coming home to Adelaide,” adds Stapleton. “At night we dream of giant silver balls, even larger Scottish men on the side of motels and Tony Modra’s right foot. You can take the boys out of Adelaide, but you can’t take Adelaide out of the boys.”
