Beyoncé Has Been Working On New Music For Over A Year

It’s been more than five years since Beyoncé’s Lemonade. Breathe easy, as not only is new music is on the way, but Bey plans to instigate a cultural renaissance.

Beyoncé is on the cover of the Harper’s Bazaar Icon issueHarper’s Bazaar is a fashion rag and to a large extent, the piece focuses on Beyoncé’s new IVY PARK collection. The cover image features Bey in a triple-denim combo of shirt, shorts and chaps from IVY PARK x adidas.

The interview also covers celebrity culture, self-care, the influence of Beyoncé’s upbringing and the strong women in her life. Eventually, the interviewer gets around to the million dollar question: for crying out loud, Beyoncé, when are you going to allow us to hear some new music?

Pleasingly, Beyoncé has big plans. She anticipates a cultural renaissance bred by “all the isolation and injustice” of the past year. She intends to help facilitate this renaissance and is hard at work. “I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half,” she says.

The credits on Beyoncé albums tend to be essay length. She gives insight into her exhaustive process: “Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies.”

It’s a heck of a lot of work, but Beyoncé says that after 31 years of making-music, there’s “nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing” she feels in the recording studio. “It feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old.” So, to confirm, the new music is coming.
