Brisbane music festival/conference BIGSOUND has just dropped its full schedule of live shows and conferences, and has added a bunch of new speakers to its lineup.
Running for three days this September in Brisbane’s iconic Fortitude Valley precinct, the event will feature over 160 live shows, as well as discussion panels and keynote addresses from leaders of the Aussie music industry.
With things getting off to an early start on the event’s Tuesday night with official parties hosted by Pandora and Mushroom, the real fun gets under way on Wednesday with lunchtime events from CAAMA and Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance.
The party doesn’t stop there though, with an afternoon soiree hosted by Fans x NFE x Pilerats and evening events such as the Home Indigenous showcase and the Red Bull Sound Select party.
Thursday backs it right up again, this time with lunchtime parties from the Gold Coast Music Awards and BEMAC, while Pandora sees you through the afternoon and Oztix and Singapore Sound System keeping the vibe alive well and truly into the night.
And for anyone still looking for more action on Friday evening, there is a wind-down party at The Triffid. Only in the music industry would Friday night be a wind down, amirite? This is all in addition to the official BIGSOUND Festival lineup, which is huge and features the likes of Tkay Maidza, Luke Million, Harts, DZ Deathrays and more playing across a number of venues.
It’s not all parties though, with organisers also dropping the conference program, announcing a further 80 new speakers including Merlin’s Charles Caldas, Vinyl Me Please’s Cameron Schaefer, artist Sarah Blasko, Indonesian promoter Sarah Deshita, Double J’s Myf Warhurst, triple j’s Ollie Wards, Today Show music producer Sarah Mason, Sony/ATV’s Craig Hawker and one half of the Moldy Peaches Kimya Dawson among many others.
The conference program will include panel topics like the value of sync and artist placement, the contemporary role of physical music sales, pathways for Indigenous musicians, and much more. Popular topics like festival booking, the digital music economy, the metal genre, artist management and community radio will return for an annual review.
Catch this year’s full BIGSOUND schedules at the BIGSOUND website. The BIGSOUND mobile app is available now in the Apple App Store and Google Play, and the full list of speakers and buyers is available below.
