Billy Bragg Takes A Swipe At Anti-Vaxxers In New Single About Life Online

With a new studio album on its way this October, Billy Bragg has just dropped a new single, titled ‘Ten Mysterious Photos That Can’t Be Explained’.

Bragg says ‘Ten Mysterious Photos…’ is about life online, “both good and bad.” The lyrics describe the internet as being like “heroin for auto-didacts,” and also include a not-so-subtle dig at anti-vaxxers: “They look like reasonable folks / But the next thing you know / Is they’re screaming ‘I don’t want your cure!'”

Bragg’s forthcoming album, The Million Things That Never Happened, is his first solo album-length effort since 2013’s Tooth & Nail. In 2016, Bragg teamed up with American songwriter and producer Joe Henry to record the conceptual covers album, Shine a Light: Field Recordings from the Great American Railroad.

The Million Things That Never Happened‘s first single, ‘I Will Be Your Shield’, landed in early July, along with a live performance video. The video – in which a wizened Bragg is supported by a full ensemble including a violinist and The Magic Numbers’ Romeo Stodart on piano – is an excerpt from an upcoming streamed concert experience that’s taking place on Friday, 10th September at 8pm AEST via Stabal.

The Million Things That Never Happened is out on Friday, October 8th.
