SELLOUT ?!?! Woah hang on there. Sure BODYJAR thought long and hard about marketing “Tatt-in-a-can”, but the sell-out label is a bit over the top yeah ? …. oh no I see … BODYJAR SELL-OUT … THE CORNER HOTEL … Friday 13th November. OK so let’s get this straight … the mighty Jar’s Melbourne leg of their last ever tour, THE END IS NOW, has officially sold out… without a single ad or interview being run!! Punk rock !! I guess that’s what the simple “word on the street” can do for you when you are one of this country’s finest rock bands announcing your final tour.
Good news though if you are in Melbourne and you missed out … despair not … the JAR are pleased to announce one final extra show on THURS 12 NOVEMBER at the CORNER HOTEL, RICHMOND with hearty support from 28 DAYS & BEHIND CRIMSON EYES.
Point to note however, if you are planning on catching the JAR elsewhere around the country don’t get complacent. It looks like you might want to get organised. Word is that absolutely no further shows will be announced and tickets are selling fast all over the nation so consider yourself warned.
Other news to note regard this terminal tour is that former long-time JAR sticks-man Ross Heatherington will be bringing some heritage to the proceedings, joining the band on stage for their Melbourne and Sydney performances.
So this is it… the beginning of the ‘end game’. A decade long chapter of Aussie punk rock coming to a close. Front man Cam concedes, “I guess it hasn’t really hit me yet. We’ve been busy organising the tour, going through the usual drill, meanwhile all these heart-wrenching stories about how people lost their front teeth or met their first spotty boyfriend at a Jar show are flooding our inter-web site. I mean, c’mon people, get a freakin’ life !! No seriously though the response to the announcement has been awesome. It’s been an absolute privilege being in this band and playing for so many great people. We can’t wait to rip it up one last time.”
And just to re-cap for those who are clinically dead, BODYJAR defined Australian melodic punk in the 90’s & Naughties, they played & slayed in venues all over the planet and have consistently written some absolute cracker tunes throughout their reign… ‘One in a Million’, ‘Lights Out’, ‘Not the Same’, ‘Glossy Books’, ‘Fall to the Ground ’ etc etc etc… (Check out their brilliant film clips on youtube).
So there you have it … your last chance to witness the genuine article and hear the band before they cross over into legend … THE END IS NOW !
