Desert rock veteran Brant Bjork, recently in the country with his flagship band Vista Chino for Big Day Out 2014, has announced he will return to Australia this May for the Low Desert Punks tour, which will include appearances at Perth’s Astor Rocks event and CherryRock014 in Sydney.
Rising like a mushroom cloud out of the Palm Desert scene in the early ’90s as a member of the seminal stoner rock outfit Kyuss, Bjork went on to distinguish himself as a talented singer and songwriter in his own right, in addition to playing with Orange County rock stalwarts Fu Manchu.
For his Low Desert Punks tour, Bjork has put together a considerable roster of players, including Dave Dinsmore on bass (Che, Bl’ast), Bubba Dupree on guitar (Void, Hater), and Tont Tornay on drums (Chuck Dukowski). No previous band has been more suited to Bjork’s unique sensibilities.
Bjork will debut his new crew to Australian audiences at headline shows in Brisbane, Byron Bay, Adelaide, and Melbourne, in addition to co-headlining spots at the Sydney debut of Cherry Bar’s CherryRock event and Perth’s own Astor Rocks, with alt-rock legends the Meat Puppets.
