Brisbane Producer Clovr Announces Debut Album & Shares New Single ‘closer’

Meanjin/Brisbane producer Clovr is officially stepping into a huge new chapter, today announcing his debut album paper elephants – and if new single closer is anything to go by, it’s shaping up to be a seriously immersive ride.

Set for release on Thursday June 11, paper elephants arrives after a prolific run of singles that’s steadily positioned Clovr as one of Australia’s most exciting rising electronic names. And rather than chasing pure dancefloor catharsis, his latest material feels more interested in emotional connection – balancing club-ready energy with genuine introspection.

Clovr – ‘closer’

That sweet spot is all over closer.

Built around shimmering synths, punchy house grooves and a beautifully restrained vocal performance, the track feels equally suited to a euphoric sunset festival set or an existential solo train ride home at midnight. It’s sleek and modern, but there’s warmth underneath it too, the kind of emotional pull that’s quickly becoming Clovr’s signature.

“I went through many versions when I was in Munich,” Clovr explains of the track. “It acts as a soundtrack to my experiences there, as I felt deeply connected to its culture and environment.”

“It’s a stripped-back piece of work that aims to embrace human connection, disengaging from the overwhelming saturation of digital content.”

Honestly? In 2026, that might be the most relatable artistic mission statement imaginable.

paper elephants will also include previous singles complicated, get sum, Friends, Say So and Cold – tracks that have collectively earned support from platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, NOVA and iHeartRadio, while steadily building Clovr’s reputation as a producer capable of blending emotional storytelling with polished electronic production.

There are traces of Flume, Caribou and Hermitude in the DNA, but Clovr’s sound feels less like imitation and more like someone carving out their own lane between nostalgia and futurism.

“My mum was always blasting Fleetwood Mac in the living room when I was a pup,” he says. “It ignited a curiosity for music.”

That curiosity has already seen him share stages with the likes of Lime Cordiale, Bag Raiders, Luude and Hermitude, while also landing festival appearances at Groovin the Moo and Rhythm and The Reef.

Now, with a debut album finally around the corner, Clovr feels poised to level up in a very big way.

And if closer is any indication, he’s doing it without sacrificing the emotional heartbeat underneath the beats. Take it for a spin up above.
