After announcing last month that she was expecting a child, Britney Spears shared over the weekend that she has lost her pregnancy.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” Spears wrote on Saturday (14th May) in a joint statement with her fiancée, Sam Asghari.
“This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news,” the couple continued.
“Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”
In April, Spears revealed she was expecting her third child, and first with Asghari. The news came after the singer gained her freedom last November from a conservatorship that had controlled her life and finances for over 13 years.
Last year, when Spears labelled the conservatorship “abusive” and told the court she wished for it to end, she claimed she had been forced to remain on birth control despite her wishes. “I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” she said at the time. “I was told right now in the conservatorship I am not able to get married or have a baby.”
Spears has two children, Sean and Jayden, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
