Britney Spears‘ ex-manager Sam Lutfi has taken to Twitter to admit that he “failed her” during his brief period working for the popstar.
“Just sitting here listening to that court recording, if she hates me after she’s free I won’t blame her…,” he said, referring to Britney’s testimony she gave to the court on June 23rd.
“I failed her, I was supposed to protect her from all this, I let her down and we both paid dearly for it – – head in hands..I’m so sorry.”

Lutfi was a topic of discussion in the recent Framing Britney Spears documentary. It appears that he became a close associate of hers closely after Britney shaved her head. Yahoo! Entertainment previously reported that the pair met in a nightclub after Britney had just been discharged from a rehab facility.
New York Times reporter Joe Coscarelli described Lutfi in the documentary as someone who had a reputation for “attaching himself to celebrities, often at vulnerable moments for them.”
In 2008, Jamie Spears became sole conservator of Britney’s affairs. Soon after Jamie’s place as head of the conservatorship was established, her family filed a restraining order against Lutfi. In the 2008 motion that was filed, Lynne Spears claimed that Lutfi “essentially moved into Britney’s home and has purported to take control of her life, home and finances.”
Lynne also alleged that Lutfi took control over her medication, cut her off from communicating over the phone, and manipulated her.
The documentary reveals that the family believed that he even went so far as drugging her and confusing her. The court granted a three year restraining order against him a year later in 2009.
Lutfi has long denied the allegations, maintaining that he has always had Spears best interests at heart.
In 2019, a further five year restraining order was granted against Lutfi.
Earlier this week, a Los Angeles Judge granted Britney the right to appoint her own attorney to her conservatorship. She has hired Matthew S. Rosengart to represent her in her ongoing conservatorship battle.
Spears has lived under the conservatorship for the past 13 years, and has previously called it “abusive”. After her third attempt to remove her father, Jamie, as head conservator was shot down by the court, she is currently seeking to end the conservatorship without evaluation.
As per NBC News, she said “I’m here to get rid of my dad and charge him with conservatorship abuse.” She added that “this conservatorship has allowed my dad to ruin my life.”
