Gorillaz have launched pop-up “spirit houses” at 500 locations around the world, including nine locations in Australian capital cities.
Humanz will be officially released via all the usual mediums next week on Friday, 28th April, but in true Gorillaz style, the Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett conceived virtual band have provided a very special way to hear the album beforehand.
To access the locations and hear the album, you need only to download Gorillaz new augmented reality app which will provide the location of your nearest immersive musical installation, and of course, Humanz in full.
When you arrive at one of the locations, the house will pop up and you’ll be prompted to put in headphones to hear the album. From the looks of things Noodle from the band is hanging out at a few of the spirit houses too.
So if you’re in Perth, Melbourne, Byron Bay, Brisbane, or Sydney, you’re in luck because there’s a spirit house, inspired by the clip for Gorillaz new track ‘Saturnz Barz’, near you.
And if you can’t get there, you’ll just have to be satisfied by Gorillaz hilarious first ever live interview which went down yesterday.
