Cardi B Pleads Not Guilty To Charges In Strip Club Assault

It has been revealed that Cardi B was arraigned today in relation to new felony charges stemming from a fight last August in a New York City strip club. She has pleaded not guilty.

According to the Associated Press, she didn’t speak to reporters as she came to and from the courthouse, but waved to a small crowd of fans nearby.

According to police, the 26 year old rapper and her co-defendants got into an argument with a bartender at the strip club. It was here that a fight broke out, causing minor injuries to the woman and one other employee.

She was originally only charged with misdemeanours, but was later formally accused with two felony counts of attempted assault last Friday. This came after she denied a plea deal, which would have allowed her a conditional discharge and as a result, prosecutors have presented the case to a grand jury.

As Variety report, her and her two co-defendants have 14 total charges, including assault, criminal solicitation, harassment and conspiracy. This could mean a four year prison sentence if convicted.

During a sold-out show on Saturday in Los Angeles, Cardi B reportedly told the crowd “I ain’t going to jail, I got a daughter.”

Her two co-defendants have also pleaded not guilty. They are set to go back to court on September 9, however Cardi B does not yet have another scheduled date.
