In devastating news for fans of Childish Gambino, the artist has just cancelled what would have been his his first Australian tour since 2019.
The man behind the project, rapper and actor Donald Glover, was supposed to be coming our way in February 2025 to celebrate his sixth and final studio album, Bando Stone & The New World, with four huge shows across the country. But he was forced to break fans’ hearts over the weekend by pulling the plug on the dates, due to complications following a recent surgery

“Unfortunately, my path to recovery is taking longer than expected,” Gambino revealed in a statement sent to ticketholders.
“The upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand are cancelled. One of the last things I’d ever want to do is disappoint my fans.”
But it sounds like there may still be some hope of one final Childish Gambino Aussie tour before Glover retires the project for good.
“I really appreciate the support you have shown and know that I will do what I can to give u an exceptional experience when the time is right,” he continued. Thank you.”
It comes after the artist cancelled the remainder of his North American, UK and Europe dates, following a hospital stay back in October.
“After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent,” he wrote on Twitter at the time.
“As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal.”
If you bought tickets to Gambino’s cancelled 2025 Aussie dates, you don’t need to take any action. Ticketek has advised that refunds will be processed automatically.
