Christine McVie Returns To Fleetwood Mac

Christine McVie has rejoined rock legends Fleetwood Mac, 15 years after she first announced her retirement from the group. Mick Fleetwood confirmed the return of McVie during a concert in Maui over the weekend, during which he referred to the news as “the worst kept secret there is.”

McVie reunited with her former bandmates last September during a Fleetwood Mac concert in London. In a subsequent Guardian interview, the singer expressed a desire to come back to the band. “I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them,” she said.

“I miss them all. If they were to ask me I would probably be very delighted…but it hasn’t happened so we’ll have to wait and see,” she added. But former bandmate Stevie Nicks told Billboard that the door is open to McVie, insisting that Fleetwood Mac is her band and she is free to rejoin, saying:

“If Chris wants to come back to the band, I said to her, ‘It’s your band. I don’t really think you have to ask. Because it’s your band. McVie. Fleetwood Mac-vie? So, it all depends, Chris, on you. How you feel. Do you want to take this on again?’”

The band are slowly returning to playing live shows as McVie’s ex-husband, John, receives treatment for a cancer diagnosis that saw the band cancel 14 tour dates, including their Australian and New Zealand tours. In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Nicks said McVie was on the mend.

“He’s got his treatment, and now he did a show on the 30th and 31st, another tomorrow night, then he has surgery next week,” Nicks told the magazine. “I’m not the least bit worried about John. He’s very, very strong and a man of very few words. He’s not a person to mess with.”
