Melbourne indie group City Calm Down have today announced that they’ll be hitting the road this October in support of their hotly-anticipated third record, Television. They’ve also backed that up with another single from the record too titled ‘Flight’.
The tour will see them taking the record to capital cities across the country, including Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne.
The record is set to be released on Friday, 23rd August via I Oh You. The band have already given us two singles in preparation for the album’s release: the jovial title-track ‘Television’ which came to us a little while ago and the follow-up, a feel-good track in ‘Stuck (On The Eastern)’.
Of ‘Flight’, singer Jack Bourke said “’Flight’ taps into themes I’ve explored on previous City Calm Down records – social media consumption and developing an opinion in an echo chamber – but it’s more scathing and cynical.”
He cites the middle of the record being a particularly problematic point in the recording, saying that it was difficult to execute.
“We were still working on it while we were in the final stages of mixing the new record, and starting to feel like we weren’t going to make it. But when Burke [Reid, producer] came down with a brutal bout of the flu, we all felt very bad for poor old Burke, but it did allow us an extra couple of days to finish it off.”
