Courtney Barnett, Pond, Jagwar Ma Top NME’s 2013 Top 50 Lists

NME have named their top 50 albums and tracks of 2013, and the top honours have gone to none other than Sheffield’s indie rock sweethearts Arctic Monkeys, with their fifth studio album, AM, and French hype machine Daft Punk, who scored track of the year with Get Lucky.

Second place in the album of the year stakes went to Kanye West for his latest effort, Yeezus, with Queens Of The Stone Age taking third with …Like Clockwork. The second best track of the year, according to the magazine, was Arcade Fire‘s Reflektor, while Arctic Monkeys appeared again to take third place with their single Do I Wanna Know?

There’s a couple of Aussie appearances at the top end of the list – Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds took out the 12th best track of the year with Jubilee Street and 8th on the albums list with Push The Sky Away. Melbourne singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett scored the 6th best track of the year with her deadpan ode to gardening, Avant Gardener, while she also took out 38 on the best albums list with The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas. Jagwar Ma placed at 16 on the albums list with their record Howlin, and Western Australia’s own Pond placed at number 7 on the tracks list with Xanman.
