Young New York indie group Cymbals Eat Guitars have announced details of their new album, the follow-up to their acclaimed 2009 debut, Why There Are Mountains.
The Line of Best Fit reports that the foursome are gearing up for the release of Lenses Alien, their first album since signing with famed label Barsuk (Death Cab For Cutie, John Vanderslice, Nada Surf). The new record enjoys the production services of John Agnello, who comes to Cymbals Eat Guitars having worked with the likes of Thurston Moore, Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile, Dinosaur Jr and several other indie luminaries.
Lenses Alien will get a US release of September 14. It is out a day earlier in Europe with an Australian release date yet to be confirmed.
Cymbals Eat Guitars emerged in 2009 in a blaze of blogosphere hype, with their debut album clocking in regularly in ‘best of the year’ lists. The band, led by guitarist and vocalist Joseph D’Agostino, now enjoy the double hipster claim to fame by being signed to Barsuk in the US, and the equally fine Memphis Industries in the UK.
The tracklisting to Lenses Alien is:
Rifle Eyesight (Proper Name)
