Dave Grohl Broke His Leg Live On Stage, Came Back To Finish The Show Anyway

If there was any doubt before that Dave Grohl is one of the most dedicated frontmen in the business, there isn’t anymore, after the Foo Fighter fell off the stage during a concert in Sweden, broke his right leg, and came back to continue with the concert anyway.

Grohl reportedly fell early in the band’s set, during a performance of Monkey Wrench, and remained on the ground for several minutes, while jokingly singing the David Bowie and Queen song Under Pressure. Video footage (below) shows Grohl, in good spirits, addressing the crowd.

“Hey, ladies and gentlemen. I love you, but I think I just broke my leg. I really broke my leg,” he told the audience. “Right now, I’m gonna go to the hospital. I’m gonna fix my leg, but then I’m gonna come back and we’re gonna play for you again. I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry,” he continued.

“We’re gonna do it, but right now, Taylor Hawkins, you’ve gotta do it. You’ve gotta do it.”

Grohl was taken away to receive medical attention, while the rest of Foo Fighters played a set of covers with Taylor Hawkins taking on vocal duties.

According to reports, Grohl soon returned to the stage with his leg bandaged and finished the concert while sitting in a chair. The band reportedly continued to play for around two hours after that.

Grohl reportedly told the crowd he would “keep playing until the doctor dragged him off the stage.”

After the show the band tweeted a picture of an X-ray showing Grohl’s broken leg. “Thank you Gothenburg. That was amazing,” reads the caption.

It’s not yet known how the injury will affect the rest of the Foo Fighters’ tour. Watch footage of the aftermath of the fall below.
