Dave Navarro Hints at New Jane’s Addiction Album, Reflects on Health Struggles

Dave Navarro has hinted that a new album from the original line-up of Jane’s Addiction is likely on the way. Following their first new music release in 34 years, the band returned with the single “Imminent Redemption” last month. Navarro, along with Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, and Eric Avery, has confirmed that there are more tracks ready for fans, though the exact format of the release is still undecided.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Navarro discussed the potential for a new album, saying, “That’s more than likely going to happen. I mean, we have recorded material. I don’t know specifically the model, if it’s going to be a song at a time, or if we’re going to drop a song, and then a record, or I don’t really know.” He expressed a preference for having the music on vinyl, noting, “What matters to me most is that this stuff is on vinyl. I don’t know anything about streaming or anything like that.”

Navarro also reflected on the challenges and changes the band has faced over the years. “There’s always hurdles in collaborative creative efforts,” he explained. “But overcoming those hurdles is where the solution happens, and the solution, should it reveal itself, can be pretty exciting.”

The guitarist took a break from the band in 2022 to focus on his health after battling long COVID. During this period, Navarro admitted to fearing that he might never return to performing. “Of course,” he said when asked if he worried he wouldn’t perform again. “It was, ‘Maybe, I’ll never get to do this again. Maybe this is my life for the rest of my life.’”

To cope, Navarro engaged in meditation, journaling, and other practices to maintain a positive outlook. “That involved a lot of meditation, a lot of staying in the present, a lot of journaling, a lot of internal work, just to say, ‘I don’t know the answer to the future, and I’m not going to sit here and try and predict it … If anything, I should put into the universe, positivity, and try and pull some kind of manifestation effect, wherein I am able to do it again.’”

Navarro’s commitment to overcoming adversity and his excitement about the band’s future projects highlight his dedication to both his personal recovery and Jane’s Addiction’s legacy.
