David Bowie‘s infamous lost album ‘Toy’ is set to be officially released as part of a new box set.
The album was originally meant to be released as a follow-up to his 1999 record Hours…, but that never happened. The release was eventually halted and scrapped due to a dispute between Bowie and his label back in ’99, Virgin.
Toy will feature re-recorded and reworked versions of some of his earliest works.
NME pointed out that the album leaked online back in 2011, with that version featuring 14-tracks. It included the tracks ‘Uncle Floyd’ and ‘Afraid’ from his 2002 album Heathen, as well as a bunch of b-sides, including ‘Baby Loves That Way’, ‘Shadow Man’ and ‘You’ve Got A Habit Of Leaving’.
Toy is being released as part of a new Bowie Five Era box set.
“Depending where you are on the planet, if it’s 29th September you might be streaming the radio edit of ‘You’ve Got A Habit Of Leaving’ from the forthcoming ‘Toy’ album, via your favourite streaming service,” a spokesperson for Bowie wrote on the artist’s official Twitter account.
“More details regarding that and the rest of the Era Five box, later today.”
