Grab your snake skin jacket and a piping hot cup of black coffee as famed master of the bizarre and cinematic icon David Lynch is getting into the festival game by hosting his own Festival Of Disruption on this October in Los Angeles.
It’s not actually Lynch’s first foray in the world of music – having curated/contributed to The Dark Night Of The Soul album with Sparklehorse in 2009 – and while you’d be forgiven for assuming the festival would exclusively feature artists performing their works backwards between Transcendental Meditation sessions, Lynch has actually put together a conventionally amazing lineup of artists.
With the like of Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, St. Vincent, Questlove, and Rhye all along for the ride, as well as a performance of music from Twin Peaks featuring Sky Ferreira and Xiu Xiu, the inaugural Festival Of Disruption already looks like one of the hottest tickets in la la land.
Hold the phone though as that’s not even the half of what Lynch has planned, with Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan and Lynch veteran and Laura Dern will be giving talks at the festival along with comedy legend Mel Brooks and Blondie‘s Debbie Harry and Chris Stein.
Oh and there actually will be daily Transcendental Meditation sessions as well as screenings of rarely seen Lynch short films and classics.
Tickets go on sale Friday 24th June with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the David Lynch Foundation, which uses the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation technique to reduce toxic stress and trauma among at-risk populations, including victims of domestic violence, veterans suffering from PTSD, and underserved urban youth.
There is of course one glaring omission from the festival, Nicholas Cage performing the music of Elvis. Come on David, give the people what they want.
