Dead Letter Circus Confirmed For Soundwave 2016

UPDATE 17/12/15 5.50pm: Soundwave 2016 has been officially cancelled.

The second act to be officially confirmed for Soundwave 2016 is none other than Brisbane rockers Dead Letter Circus.

Announced on triple j, confirmation of Dead Letter Circus’ Soundwave 2016 slot comes after the band dropped their latest album Aesthesis earlier this month.

In his review of Aesthesis, Music Feeds writer Brenton Harris said, “Technical wizardry aside, melody and emotionality have always been the foundation of Dead Letter Circus’ appeal and on Aesthesis they’ve explored and embraced these elements more than ever before.”

The release of Aesthesis will also be supported by a Dead Letter Circus national tour this October.

Dead Letter Circus now join Welsh metal heroes Bullet For My Valentine who earlier this month became the first act to be confirmed for Soundwave 2016, just as they unveiled their new album, Venom.

The remainder of the “heavier” Soundwave 2016 lineup is expected to be slowly released over the next two weeks.

What’s more, Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah has said that the festival’s 2016 jaunt is “all about better bands and longer sets”, meaning that punters won’t see any more short 30-minute sets.

Soundwave will return to a single-day format in 2016 after running as a two-day event in 2015. The festival is set to visit only Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in January, around the time when Big Day Out used to take place.
