Death Cab For Cutie Working On New Material

It appears indie stalwarts Death Cab For Cutie are back to doing “what they do best”. In response to a fan’s tweet, frontman Ben Gibbard has reignited the band’s torch, telling the world that new material from the outfit is currently in the works.

Replying directly to the fan, who made no secret of their yearning for more material, Gibbard stated in caps lock (which only added to the excitement) “this is happening!” before instructing fans – many of which have since retweeted the news “do not fear”.

That’s all she, or in this instance, he wrote. No more information is available at this point in time regarding the new material but whether it be a satellite single to loosen up the joints, an EP or a full-length album, it’s sure to be welcome news to fans who have been resting on 2011’s Codes and Keys for some time now.

Who knows what will happen now that Gibbard’s creative floodgates have been opened. You can bet fans of The Postal Service are paying particular attention to this update. Gibbard’s other project has been making waves with the re-release of their stunning album Give Up and a strong Coachella set, so maybe, just maybe, the Death Cab studio momentum will flow over.

More updates as they happen.
