In keeping with their DIY, deal-with-the-record-label-later MO, Californian experimental hip-hop group Death Grips have released their latest record, titled Government Plates, online for free (right here), making the announcement on their official Facebook page.
If readers aren’t into the idea of downloading files uploaded by a notoriously contentious band from Sacramento, they can check out the SoundCloud stream below, along with a sample of some of the visuals the band have provided for the new songs. The one below is for the epically titled:
You might think he loves you for your money but I know what he really loves you for it’s your brand new leopard skin pillbox hat
Bob Dylan has not yet been reached for comment, but fans can check out the rest of the videos on the Death Grips YouTube channel. The LP is the follow-up to 2012’s No Love Deep Web, which the band likewise “leaked” online, subsequently being dropped from Epic Records for the stunt.
Back in May, drummer Zach Hill said that he would be taking time off from touring with Death Grips in order to write and direct a feature film, while the band announced that a new album was in the works. The band then spent the year inexplicably cancelling tour and festival dates.
