Loosen up your neck muscles: Deftones are coming back to Australia, and this time they’re rolling in with a full-blown arena tour – their first here in almost a decade – plus an absolutely ridic support lineup featuring Interpol and Ecca Vandal.
The multi-platinum, GRAMMY-winning Sacramento icons will deliver their signature mix of raw heaviness and dream-state atmosphere across five huge shows next May, kicking off with two nights at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday 2 May and Sunday 3 May, followed by Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 6 May, and wrapping with two massive Melbourne shows at Rod Laver Arena on Saturday 9 May and Sunday 10 May.
deftones – ‘my mind is a mountain’
This tour marks the long-awaited return of one of alternative music’s most beloved, culture-shaping forces. Formed in 1988 by a bunch of Northern California friends who loved heavy riffs and weird vibes in equal measure, Deftones have since sold over 10 million albums, earned a GRAMMY, racked up more than 10 billion streams, and inspired every alt-rock kid with a sketchbook and too many feelings.
Their legacy includes some of the most influential records in modern heavy music: 2000’s game-changing White Pony (2x-Platinum, GRAMMY-winning, eternal in every way), the Platinum Diamond Eyes (2010), the beloved post-metal glow of Koi No Yokan (2012), and 2020’s Ohms, which delivered yet another Top 5 Billboard debut. In 2025, the band unveiled their tenth album private music, proving once again they’re not just still here, they’re still evolving.
Joining Deftones on the Australian run are Interpol, bringing their brooding, suit-and-sorrow New York post-punk swagger, and genre-bending local firestarter Ecca Vandal.
For longtime fans, these shows are going to feel like a spiritual alignment. For newer listeners who just discovered White Pony after someone told them “this will change your life” – yeah, you’re about to understand why Deftones are basically a religion.
