Degrassi (Drake’s Old Show) Is Copping A Reboot

The Canadian teen drama responsible for the existence of Drake is getting a rejig.

Degrassi will be rebooted for a new generation and beamed onto our screens next year thanks to HBO Max.

As Deadline reports, WarnerMedia Kids & Family have greenlit 10 hour-long episodes of the show, which will be helmed by showrunners Lara Azzopardi (The Bold Type) and Julia Cohen (Riverdale).

Much like the OG, the new Degrassi will focus on a bunch of Toronto high school students “living in the shadow of events that both bind them together and tear them apart”.

In a statement, Azzopardi and Cohen said: “What excites us maybe the most about reviving this beloved franchise is turning it into a truly seralised one-hour drama. We’re honoured to be given the opportunity to lead this evolution and bring this iconic series back into people’s homes.”

The Degrassi franchise started in 1979 and spans six separate series.

Who knows? Maybe the 2023 instalment will introduce us to the next Drizzy.
