The Devil Wears Prada Parts Ways With Drummer, Pushing Forward On New Album

Titans of the post-hardcore/crabcore movement The Devil Wears Prada have announced that they have parted ways with their longtime drummer and fan favourite Daniel Williams. Taking the good with the bad, the band also confirmed that despite the departure, they’re pushing on with a new album.

“With respect, we would like to let our fans know that Daniel is no longer in The Devil Wears Prada,” reads a Facebook post from the band. We wish him nothing but the best with everything he does going forward.”

Williams served as the band’s drummer since its inception, and no reason for his departure was given. Tweets from Williams suggest that there is more to the story, but that at least for now, we won’t know what that might be. Posting that he’s aware there will be “a lot of questions”, Williams said only that “I wish i was able to answer them.”

Fans of the band were gutted by the announcement that doesn’t really do justice considering popularity of Williams, who had performed on all the band’s five studio albums. Long-term producer Joe Sturges even posted, “Not sure what happened” before sending his best regards.

The Devil Wears Prada aren’t having the easiest run of it lately. Last year, they parted ways with their record label before announcing the departure of their founding guitarist Chris Rubey.

A replacement for Williams is yet to be announced but more is sure to come with further album updates.

TDWP’s last release, the Space EP, was the first since parting ways with Rise Records. Prior to that, they released their full-length, 8:18, which brought them to Australia for Soundwave 2015.
