Drake Asked His Mum Why People Think He Cries A Lot, And Her Answer Is Perfect

Rightly or wrongly, Drake’s gained a reputation over the years as a bit of a wet sort, prone to hypersensitivity and general malaise. His knitted eyebrows, cuddlesome demeanour and emo lyrics have inspired a constant stream of teary memes and think pieces. His Feelings even have their own Twitter account.

It’s an issue to which he’s clearly sensitive. Last year it prompted an outpouring of actual legit sadness from the Canadian MC because he was “sick of people saying that I’m lonely and emotional, and associating me with this longing for a woman”. Now it seems Drake, real name Aubrey Graham, is really tackling the issue head on — or, we should say, getting his mum to do it for him.

The Nothing Was The Same rapper has grilled his mother, Sandi Graham, on why she thinks others think he cries a lot. The answer? He’s just a “sensitive soul”, apparently. Naww.

“It’s not that you cry at all,” she says, in a pair of videos (below) posted to Instagram. “I’ve never seen you cry – on stage, or even when the two of us are just together… They don’t think you cry, they would imagine that you would be a person that may cry because you are a sensitive soul.”

She’d know. Sandi’s been dealing with that sensitivity, with the patience of a bloody saint, for a good while now. Like that time ol’ Aubrey got unreasonably angsty because he didn’t get the sandwich he wanted, and her response was just to love him even more. Video evidence of that excellent exchange below.

Living at my momma’s house, we’d argue every month,” now seems to be a case of Drake sulking off to his room and momma knocking on his door with milk and Oreos 30 minutes later. Bless you, Sandi Graham, for accepting your son just the way he is.

Drake, and his feelings, will arrive in Australia shortly to headline the 2015 Future Music Festival and he will complete his maiden voyage to Australia with a run of headline tour dates supported by 2 Chainz. See all those dates below.
