DZ Deathrays Announce Aussie Pop-Up Bars, Complete With Their Own Beer

DZ Deathrays are cheers-ing the release of their new album Bloody Lovely with a schooey of their own beer. And they’re inviting you to have a sip.

The dance-punk duo have just announced a bunch of celebratory pop-up bars along Australia’s east coast, which will be serving a re-brew of their Young Henrys collab Pills ‘N’ Thrills Pilsner to toast the release of their 3rd LP this Friday, 2nd February.

“Getting to release our own beer a couple of years ago along with a big help from the Young Henrys team was so awesome!”, explains drummer Simon Ridley.

“It’s a session Pilsner and an Aussie take on a traditional Czech recipe, that reminded us of our time spent touring in Europe blended with a bit of flavour from home. We are so glad we get to do a rebrew of the beer and have people hooking in to it at the album launch Pop-Up bar.”

DZ themselves will be in the house at each pop-up to perform a DJ set, hang out, and make that Bloody Lovely is as divey and debaucherous as they envisaged it to be in the album.

“We have always wanted to open our own bar at some point and I guess this is a good way to test the waters and also launch the new record with a bang,” says guitarist/singer Shane Parsons. “In the studio we were trying to get that feeling of a fun dive bar with our music playing in the background while people shoot pool and talk shit.”

The pop-ups will, er, pop up for one night only at Brisbane’s Greaser Bar on Friday 2nd, Sydney’s Ramblin’ Rascal Tavern on Saturday 3rd and Melbourne’s The Beaufort on Sunday 4th February.

Free entry, walk ups only, and first in best dressed.

It comes after DZ scored a song in the 2017 Hottest 100 with their fuzz jam ‘Shred For Summer’ coming in at #67, ahead of Bloody Lovely being announced as Triple J’s feature album this week. Yewwwww!
