Ecca Vandal Returns With Comeback Single ‘Bleed But Never Die’

Ecca Vandal has formally made her comeback after months of sharing teasers on her social media accounts throughout 2024 and being largely absent from the music industry at large for several years. Today (August 8th), the ecclectic Melbourne-based singer, rapper and songwriter has shared a new single entitled ‘Bleed But Never Die’.

In an accompanying single-sentence press statement, Vandal offered only the following of her new single: “It’s about building inner resilience, which feels to me like a pretty important message given the intense state of the world at the moment.” Like her previous efforts – including her self-titled 2017 debut album – Vandal made the new track with former Trial Kennedy bassist Richard Buxton, who has since adapted the producer moniker of Kidnot.

Vandal has opted not to elaborately explain her extended hiatus from music, except to describe it as “a bit of a breather for my head, heart, health and art”. Since the release of Ecca Vandal in 2017, new material from the artist has grown increasingly sporadic. 2019 saw the release of ‘In My Mind’, a collaboration with producer Alice Ivy, as well as Vandal singing the hook on Hilltop Hoods‘ hit single ‘Exit Sign’ and collaborating with Sampa The Great on ‘Dare To Fly’.

2020 saw her sing on a song called ‘Rell, The Iron Maiden’ for the multiplayer online game League of Legends. Prior to ‘Bleed But Never Die’, Vandal’s most recent appearance was on the DZ Deathrays single ‘Fear The Anchor’ in 2021. The song appeared on DZ’s Positive Rising: Part 2, which was released in July 2021. A few months earlier, Vandal had collaborated with Void Of Vision on a remix of their track ‘Decay’, which appeared on their 2021 remix album Hyperdaze (Redux).
