Ed Sheeran making a metal album sounds like something that was pulled straight out of a meme, but as the singer was recently quoted in British publication The Sun, he said he “would not be opposed to creating” a metal album.
He revealed his love of the genre, saying that “I was really into death metal as a kid. I listened to Cradle Of Filth and Slipknot and all that stuff.”
“I’m not saying I could ever step into that world,” he added. “I learnt all those riffs on guitar as a kid. That’s something I’ve never thought about doing — but something I would not be opposed to creating.”
Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth caught wind of what Sheeran said, and shared a screen cap of the quote on Instagram with the caption “I’ll believe it when I see it. Fellow Suffolk lad could come good in the end. ‘Dracula’s Castle on the Hill’ anyone?”
Sheeran’s off the back of releasing his latest single ‘Bad Habits’ where he dons some heavy corpse makeup in the clip. Watch it below.
