Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Elana Stone has released her new single , ‘People Come And People Go’, with a music video on Thursday, March 7, via ABC Music.

Elana Stone shares insights into the recording process, expressing her joy in working with Josh and describing the folky sound created with a toy piano in the bridge, “I sang the lead vocal and backing vocals and played all the piano-ey bits”. She said. “We used Josh’s toy piano in the bridge which I love the sound of – it’s quite a folky sounding bridge. It was a really fun day. I love working with Josh.”

The inspiration for the single came during a hiatus from her band All Our Exes Live In Texas. After years of non-stop touring, Elana found herself at a crossroads, grappling with burnout and uncertainty about her future.

Reflecting on the song’s themes, Elana Stone acknowledges the nature of relationships in life “’I have always struggled with the fact that people can come and go from your life without warning – no matter how much love and time you have invested in them. There is no guarantee they will stick around – the only thing anyone can guarantee is that things will change.

She further added. “When I listen to this song I can hear that I am ready to move into the next stage of life. Overwhelmingly the song is joyous and hopeful but it was written at a time of complete personal upheaval and confusion about my identity, my relationships and my place in the world.”

Accompanying the release is a music video crafted by Ten Alphas, featuring a large cast and crew from Sydney and the Illawarra.
