Ex-Slipknot Drummer Jay Weinberg & Metallica’s Rob Trujillo To Tour Australia With Supergroup Infectious Grooves

After recently being announced on the mammoth lineup for Bluesfest 2024, US funk-metal supergroup Infectious Grooves have just dropped a fully fledged Australian tour on our heads.

The band’s current lineup features recently-ousted Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg on drums, holding down the rhythm section with Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. Suicidal Tendencies members Mike Muirm and Dean Pleasants and Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner round out the blockbuster lineup, who’ll be headlining four dates across the country this March and April.

In addition to their set at Bluesfest in Byron Bay, the all-star act will also be visiting fans in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney.

“I’m super stoked to venture back to Australia and reconnect with my Aussie surf contingent, as well as celebrate 30 years of Infectious Grooves with a few gigs down under!” Trujillo said in a press statement.

While Weinberg, who was controversially sacked from Slipknot duties last year, added: “It’s an absolute honour to play with the legendary Infectious Grooves on this incredibly exciting Australian tour! Playing with some of my favourite musicians, in one of the most beautiful countries, for some of the greatest fans of heavy music in the world… I couldn’t be more thrilled to get started. See you all soon!”

The shows will mark the band’s first shows on Australian shores in 16 long years, after last visiting us for the ill-fated Soundwave Festival all the way back in 2008.
