Music Feeders rejoice as we’ve got the Australian premiere of Muse‘s brand new video for Aftermath.
Seeing the band once again collaborate with Japanese director Tekken, the clip is another flipbook style animation in a similar vein to the director’s previous work with the band on the videos for Follow Me and Exogenesis: Symphony Part 3 (Redemption). Hand-drawn and black and white, the video’s stark style mirrors the story that follows a young soldier after being separated from his family.
Currently off touring the world in support of Drones – their highly acclaimed seventh studio album (read our review here) – and their show being heralded as one of the most impressive arena spectacles of modern times, the video is a great reminder of how expertly Matt Bellamy and co can meld sound and vision.
Not that many people need reminding, as with five sold-out nights at London’s 21,000 capacity O2 and six sold-out nights in Paris already behind them, they are leaving a trail of gobsmacked and satisfied fans in their wake.
The album topping the charts in 23 different countries upon release (including Australia) and seeing the band secure their first ever US #1 album, the tour was always going to be huge. Earning them their second Grammy for Best Rock Album, Muse have proved with this album that their impressive music machine is showing no signs of slowing down.
But that’s enough hot air from me, check out the video for yourself here below.
