After a hugely successful debut year that saw the likes of Father John Misty and Unknown Mortal Orchestra grace the stage, Fairgrounds Festival has announced its excellent 2016 lineup, which is now spread across two days in early December.
Hosted again in Berry on the New South Wales South Coast, Fairgrounds 2016 has delivered a finely curated list of 13 international and local names.
After screening the Searching For Sugar Man documentary at last year’s at the festival, this year Fairgrounds has locked in the film’s subject, Rodriguez, to play. He’ll be joined by rock heavyweights The Drones, folk crooner The Tallest Man On Earth and Canadian rock duo Japandroids, who are returning to the live scene after a three year absence.
There’s a strong list of Aussie names featured on the lineup as well, including psych-rock masters King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, electro-rock duo Jagwar Ma and Big Scary, who are about to release their third record Animal.
That’s barely even scratching the surface though, with Sarah Blasko, Sheer Mag and Angel Olsen providing even more of a reason to get excited about the boutique summer festival and its super-chill vibes.
Fairgrounds will kick off on 2nd December this year. On top of its stellar list of musical acts, it will also host an expanded kids area, a record fair and a bunch of great food vendors.
The Drones, Kind Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Rodriguez will entertain on the Friday night of the festival while everyone else will hit the stage on Saturday, 3rd December.
