L’Wren Scott, a noted fashion designer who has been Mick Jagger‘s girlfriend for over a decade, was found dead in her New York apartment Monday. She was 49.
A New York Medical Examiner is still to determine the cause of death. A spokesperson for Jagger says the singer is “completely shocked and devastated” by the news. Jagger has just arrived in Australia with The Rolling Stones and is due to begin the 14 On Fire national tour in Perth on Wednesday. It is not known whether the tour will go ahead.
Scott had been dating Jagger, 70, for over a decade, following his split from wife Jerry Hall. Scott began her career as a model, later becoming an established designer, launching her own label in 2006. Her designs have been worn by notable celebrities including Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz, Madonna and Michelle Obama. Only last month Scott cancelled her scheduled London Fashion Week show following production delays.
According to Triple M an announcement regarding the Stones’ upcoming Australian dates will be made around 9am Perth time. They say refunds will be available if the tour is cancelled but are reporting that organisers may transfer tickets to a postponed date. More on this as news develops.
Just got news of the beautiful L'wren Scott's death perhaps by her own hand. I am devastated. A rare, wonderful, talented soul. Goodbye.
